JENNIFER HANSEN - CEO

My addiction took me to places I never imagined. I lived on the streets with a $300-a-day heroin habit. With dark circles under my eyes and track marks along my arms, I felt dead; my soul was gone. At the time, life seemed hopeless.

After several attempts at rehabilitation, I finally successfully detoxed at Seabrook House in Seabrook, NJ. I then entered a women's transitional facility in Southern California where, during my 3-month stay, I began to gather the tools I needed to live without drugs. I learned the simple life skills that are necessary to stay clean and obtain serenity in my life. I stayed in California for 2 & 1/2 years while working and participating in 12-step recovery before returning home to NJ.

I saw the need for something following the short term treatment that addicts were getting and began to pursue opening some housing for recovering addicts in NJ similar to what I experienced in California. So, here's what happened…

I have been drug-free for 20 years and along with continuing to keep recovery my #1 priority, I practice yoga regularly and believe in eating healthy and organic foods. We are what we eat after all and our body is really all we have so we better take good care of it! I am so excited to be able to incorporate all of what I have learned in my recovery for the benefit of those in Enlightened Solutions and all of the Serenity Houses.

MATTHEW REMINGTON, CADC INTERN

After seeking out help for my own substance abuse problem by addressing the underlying issues, I became motivated to help other individuals in need. I spent 2 years working with the homeless population, where I connected people to the appropriate services. In addition, I was part of a task force that combatted human trafficking, and I helped spread awareness by facilitating presentations to other social service providers. I have since graduated from Rutgers University with my bachelor's degree in Social Work. I am currently in a graduate program at Rutgers University where I am pursing my Masters in Social Work. My passion to help all individuals who are vulnerable keeps me motivated to try and promote social change.

Matthew began working with the addiction/mental health population and focused his postgraduate work learning and refining a variety of therapeutic techniques used to help people in early recovery. He recognized that a lot of people have underlying/unresolved trauma and used substances to cope with life. Matthew realized that no single therapeutic intervention is applicable to all persons who struggle with addictions.

At Enlightened Solutions, Matthew focuses on facilitating group therapy sessions. He works with other therapists who specialize in a variety of therapeutic techniques in an effort to reach clients in different ways. Matthew believes in taking an individualized approach when treating clients. Matthew attempts to help each client identify both their strengths and core issues by utilizing various applications of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.  Matthew combines both therapeutic interventions with recommended outside community support and group involvement to help individuals recover and develop new ways to cope with life.

Jonathan Greenberg, DC, CCEP - Chiropractor and Health Consultant

Dr. Jonathan Greenberg, DC is a licensed chiropractor and Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (CCEP) serving South Jersey and the Philadelphia area. Dr. Greenberg was voted one of America's Top Chiropractors in 2004 & 2009 by Consumers' Research Council of America.

Dr. Greenberg has a deep respect for those in pain having suffered a severe low back injury as a result of a surfing accident while attending Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California. For most of his remaining time at chiropractic school, he suffered severe, debilitating pain. Some of the best orthopedists and neurologists in the country tried to aid him to no avail. He found the same results with the numerous chiropractors he subsequently sought out, although the DCs did manage to produce at least a measure of symptomatic relief. Even so, Dr. Greenberg's prognosis was grim. "After 9 months of being worked on, I was unable to stand up for longer than 2 minutes," he says.
Dr. Greenberg decided he was going nowhere fast on these paths to healing, so he took matters into his own hands. Unable to engage in any physical activities, he had plenty of time to do research in the hope of finding the answers he needed. Soaking up knowledge from a couple of his forward-thinking professors, along with pouring over stacks of books and journal articles from the fields of chiropractic, orthopedics, neurology and physical therapy, Dr. Greenberg, over a span of 2 years, developed an approach to care that ultimately freed him from the pain and put his frame in stronger, better stabilized shape than before the accident. At that point, he stopped seeing his injury as misfortune, but rather as a godsend.

Dr. Greenberg has been freeing people of pain in private practice since 2001. As a chiropractor with experience, he is committed to promoting optimal health and well being for his patients.

Dr. Greenberg uses a "whole person approach." This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbances or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that will optimize the conditions for normal function. He not only looks at the spine, he evaluates a patient's entire body and treats accordingly, because all the parts affect one another's condition. Using this unique system, Dr. Greenberg is able to help his patients accelerate and/or maintain their journeys to good health. He also happens to be married to Jennifer Hansen, Enlightened Solutions CEO, which has put him in position to have worked closely with the addicted population for the past 8+ years. He has grown very passionate about this work and loves to see addicts change their whole lives and find alternative answers for their pain.
